Laura Anderson, MS, APRN, FNP, Wendy Wright, MS, APRN, FAANP and the staff of Anderson Family Healthcare are proud to announce the opening of their practice in
Nurse practitioners (NP’s) have been caring for patients since the mid 1960’s, and the practice role has evolved extensively since then. Nurse practitioners are registered nurses who have advanced training and education at the masters or doctorate level. NPs are able to diagnose and treat many health concerns, from sore throats and suturing of wounds to managing diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes and asthma. NPs are also able to write prescriptions for medications. They have a focus on healthy living and disease prevention.
Licensed in the state in which they practice, NP’s can be found in private practices, clinics, hospitals, colleges, the public health department as well as specialty clinics such as wound care, pulmonology, cardiology and psychiatric care. NP’s practice in accordance with the practice acts set forth by their individual state Board of Nursing and must pass a rigorous certification exam prior to clinical practice NPs can be certified in the areas of adult, family, pediatrics, psychiatric, geriatric or women’s health. The providers at Anderson Family Healthcare are certified Family Nurse Practitioners.
It is well documented in many sources that NP’s are quickly coming to the forefront of primary care in the United States as the shortage of primary care providers continues to grow. As the Health Care Reform Act continues its roll out over the upcoming years, there will be an increased need for primary care providers for patients of all ages. NP’s are able to help meet the gap in care, providing high quality healthcare that is cost effective and personalized to meet the patient’s individual needs.
We, the staff at Anderson Family Healthcare, are excited to meet you and your family. We look forward to forming a partnership with you to maintain or improve your health and that of your family. We are accepting patients of all ages; from birth through retirement and beyond.
